Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO), in partnership with Teachers Life, is hosting our 8th annual YouTube video contest called Change the View. The contest provides a positive outlet for youth (ages 13+) to express their experiences with mental health and well-being. Youth are invited to make a short video demonstrating how we can deconstruct the stigma around mental health issues – for a chance to win $3000! The contest opens March 1, 2017, and the deadline for submissions is April 7, 2017. La version française Changez le point de vue 2017

TEACHERS, here's how you can empower your students to reduce mental health stigma:
- SHARE: Encourage your colleagues to include Change the View as part of their curriculum. This contest helps foster a sense of belonging at school by opening up the conversation about mental health. All high schools across Ontario have received contest posters.
- HELP: Support students to participate in the contest by providing coordination, encouragement and supports if they need it.
- ATTEND THE EVENT: Attend CMHO’s Change the View event in Toronto on Monday May 1st, where we will watch Change the View videos and announce the winners. This will be a celebratory day hosted by our Youth Action Committee. More details to come.
- CELEBRATE: Children’s Mental Health Week is happening the week of May 1st-5th. As part of your school board’s events, we encourage you to share Change the View videos with your students, as a way of inspiring hope for mental health and well-being.
