Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health is a child and youth mental health center integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).The Centre is undertaking an ambitious agenda to establish a revitalized academic community mental health center that provides the highest quality of care, combined with excellence in teaching and community-based research. GH CCMH  located across two sites in Toronto offers both in-person and virtual care to clients and their families, from prevention and early intervention through assessment, counselling and therapy and intensive services. We are also connected to the continuum of mental health services for children and youth supported by SickKids: the Brain and Mental Health Program, the SickKids Tele Link Mental Health Program, the SickKids CCMH Learning Institute and our online resources through AboutKidsHealth. Find out more about SickKids CCMH.

 

We are seeking an ambitious, dedicated & experienced HR professional for a full-time contract until May 31, 2025, with the possibility of an extension. The successful candidate will provide support and gains exposure across all components of the HR field. The successful candidate will work in a small team supporting two HR Generalist, and will report to the Senior HR Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

Human Resources Coordination

  • Coordinates, implements and administers the Human Resources policies and practices contributing to policy development, providing guidance to staff/management, recruiting, and administration, performance management, training and employee relations
  • Maintains up-to-date records for Health and Safety training and vaccination documents
  • Supports the administration and coordinates training sessions to support H&S Specialist
  • Coordinates and supports the administration of recruitment and onboarding
  • Assists the HR Manager with conducting compensation reviews ensuring alignment with pay equity legislation, calculating payments, updating HRIS and forwarding correspondence to employees
  • Coordinates changes in MyHR PeopleSoft and informing necessary staff of updates Executing modifications in MyHR PeopleSoft and communicates updates to the required personnel
  • Assists in preparing and providing benefits packages to eligible employees; tracks status and follows up on administrative issues
  • Support with routine document management tasks such as maintaining confidential employee files, receiving/verifying documents, creating new records, tracking Ministry licensing for staff, communicating with managers and performing audits
  • Helps and assists the reception desk at times
  • Maintains and tracks probationary and performance reviews
  • Conducts and analyzes exit interviews, determining areas of improvement and providing feedback on improved processes
  • Coordinates, designs and delivers new employee orientations, trains staff on SharePoint/HR policies/MyHR (HRIS) and updates training, ensuring compliance with legislation
  • Enters and updates HRIS information,
  • Provides assistance with payroll documentation including new hires, changes to existing employees, benefits/pension updates, terminations, STD/LTD updates, leave of absences and reports
  • Coordinates disability claims acting as liaison between employee and manager, receiving STD and LTD applications/medical information, verifying validity and processing with insurer
  • Assists in calculating overpayments, underpayments, benefit and pension amounts for leave of absences and pension/benefit deduction amounts
  • Identifies and investigates payroll discrepancies, proposes solutions and distributes correspondence to parties involved
  • Prepares reports for pension reporting from HRIS and creates custom reports to assist with decision making
  • Acts as back up to the Payroll Coordinator during absences, or as needed
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Human Resources trends, best practices and legislation within the industry
  • Makes decisions within Human Resources policies, procedures and guidelines, as well as refers unusual situations to the Manager
  • Complies with the organization’s vision, policies and procedures
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management

Skills

  • Post-secondary Degree (Human Resources) and a minimum of two years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Membership with the Human Resources Professionals Association is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with all levels of staff, as well as to handle highly sensitive and confidential issues
  • Excellent listening, organizational, team building, training and facilitation skills
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to incorporate values of a culturally competent practice of diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of work
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as ability to use office equipment efficiently (telephone, scanner, photocopier and fax)
  • Travel may be required between agency sites
