Announcement from CMHO’s Board Chair

On behalf of the Board of Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO), I am announcing that Kim Moran is stepping down on November 5, 2021 as CEO to take on an exciting role with one of our healthcare partners, the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP).

Under the leadership of Kim Moran since 2014, CMHO has greatly contributed to the transformation of child and youth mental health care in Ontario. Investments to support improved access and quality care in child and youth mental health have increased by over 25% under Kim’s leadership. CMHO has broadened and increased its collaboration with sectoral partners and strengthened relationships within the broader healthcare system. CMHO and its mental health care sectoral partners advocated and received a historic investment of $3.8 billion over 10 years after years of underfunding.

Kim’s commitment to raising family and youth voices have also supported the expansion of new youth engagement initiatives as well as parent and caregiver peer support across the province.

While we are saddened to see her leave, we are extremely grateful to Kim for her many years of dedication to CMHO and we look forward to her continued allyship and further collaborating with her through our health system partner, the OCFP. We know Kim will continue to be a strong advocate for children and youth and for mental health in her new role.

Kim has helped to empower a high performing and collaborative team of child and youth mental health care policymakers and leaders at CMHO who will continue the work underway through CMHO’s strategic plan.

An interim leader will be announced before Kim’s official departure and information about a search for a new CEO will follow. Please join me in thanking Kim for her incredible contributions in child and youth mental health and congratulating her on this next opportunity to make a difference for Ontarians and their families.
