Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency providing a wide range of exceptional programs and services that improve the mental, social and physical health of infants, children and youth from the pre-natal stage to age 29, and their families.  With a range of community, residential and treatment services, we build strength and resilience through equitable, accessible, client-driven services, system leadership and advocacy.   We provide individual, group and family interventions that include mental health counselling, autism services, education, outreach and referral, early intervention, day treatment and community support. In its Lead Agency role, Strides Toronto collaborates with 23 publicly funded infant, child and youth mental health (ICYMH) core service providers to design and implement system-level improvements that promote access, responsive service delivery and experience, and positive mental health outcomes for young people and families across Toronto’s diverse communities. ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Manager, Counselling and Therapy Services provides clinical direction, guidance and support to a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team of child mental health professionals, across a spectrum of services and programs, in adherence to established legislative and accredited service standards. The Manager, Counselling & Therapy Services ensures delivery of high-quality evidence-based and evidence-informed services.

Salary range:     $76,340.15 to $88,899.64 per annum

WHAT YOU WILL DO

– Provide clinical direction, guidance and support to a multidisciplinary/ interdisciplinary team of child mental health professionals, across a spectrum of services and programs, in adherence to established legislative and accredited service standards.
– Ensuring delivery of high-quality evidence-based/ evidence-informed services.
– Develop, enhance, innovate, and implement the Organization’s clinical treatment services to ensure that services are provided in accordance with relevant legislation and accreditation standards, college requirements, Ministry expectations and the Organization’s mandate, vision, mission, philosophy and clinical standards of service, including policies, procedures and practices.
– Ensure all administrative requirements related to operations are completed in a timely, accurate and effective manner.
– Develop, establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with community partners/ stakeholders to ensure outreach, coordination and integration of the Organization’s services.
– Support employee’s wellness and responsible for directing the work in their area to ensure that it is carried out in a safe and productive manner and that employees are properly trained and protected from hazardous conditions.

THE “MUST HAVES”

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

– Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
– Professional registration in good standing with the relevant college.
– A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mental health clinician.
– A minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising clinical employees/ students.
– Strong knowledge of assessment, treatment modalities (e.g., Family Therapy, Brief Therapy, CBT, Trauma, Attachment).
– Strong background in Children and Youth Mental Health
– Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
– An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
– Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

– Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
– Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.

As our work puts us in direct contact with young people and vulnerable persons in our community, with health and safety as a priority, the successful candidate must complete or obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check before commencement of their employment.
