Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency providing a wide range of exceptional programs and services that improve the mental, social, and physical health of infants, children, and youth from the pre-natal stage to age 29, and their families. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Child and Family Therapist is a full-time permanent position which provides a broad range of therapeutic interventions, for latency aged children attending an Education and Community Partnership Program (Day Treatment) and their families addressing complex mental health issues. Interventions used will be flexibly matched to needs. This includes evidence-based family counselling, individual therapy, single session therapy, group services and service coordination within a trauma-informed framework.
Salary range: $64,573.35 to $74,875.34 per annum

WHAT YOU WILL DO
– Conduct family and individual assessments of children, develop client-centred treatment plans and goals, and deliver treatment services within the context of a multi-disciplinary team. Counselling is offered in office, in home, in the community and/or virtually.
– Participate in the provision of group services, including providing an evidence-based skill building group for parents
– Participate in weekly or biweekly multidisciplinary team consultations
– Consult and collaborate with community partners, agencies and individuals to develop and implement treatment plans
– Collect and document clinical and administrative data to complete timely reports and maintain excellent clinical records
– Maintain up-to-date and accurate record of client contact and clinical service in the agency’s client information system.
– Incorporate and integrate ongoing learning, and evidence-based/informed practices to enhance quality clinical work.
THE “MUST HAVES”
The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:
– Master’s level education in Social Work/Psychology or equivalent
– Registered member with professional college (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario).
– 1-2 years of related experience post Masters completion.
– Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
– An understanding of Anti-Black Racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health when working with clients and their families.
– Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of and imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts for the client.
THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’
While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:
– Valid Ontario driver’s license with access to the regular use of a vehicle
– Strong background in Child and Youth Mental Health with knowledge of relevant evidence-based/informed practices.
– Knowledge of the cultural diversity of communities served by the agency.
– Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
BEFORE STARTING WITH US
As our work puts us in direct contact with youth and vulnerable persons in our community, with health and safety as a priority, the successful candidate must complete or obtain the following before commencement of their employment:
– Full vaccination against COVID-19 or have received an exemption from the organization’s policy.
