The Mobile Behaviour Treatment Team (MBTT) has been an 11 year partnership between Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions (SMFC) and Mackenzie Health/ Centre for Behaviour Health Sciences (CBHS).
The objectives of the team are to:
- Return and keep children and youth in their home community.
- Reduce the level of care the children and youth require (e.g. group care to family-based care).
- Provide an innovative service for children and youth that often fall within the gaps of service.
- Provide better treatment outcomes for children and youth in care.
- Be fiscally responsible.
Learning Objectives
- Understand how an innovative service model can contribute to stability in the home environment for children and youth with complex needs.
- Understand how the child welfare system (or any single service) is not equipped to provide all the services needed for complex children and youth.
- Understand how complexity of needs encompasses both the child/youth needs as well as the complexity of the environment in which they live.
